Bibliography Albrecht Dürer
In the context of its current DFG project arthistoricum.net – specialised information service art, photography and design, Heidelberg University Library is bundling the specialist literature on Albrecht Dürer to make it searchable for the first time using a database. The bibliography is constantly maintained and continuously expanded with new titles. We are also happy to receive suggestions for additions.
Heidelberg digitized Dürer literature
The holdings of Heidelberg University Library also contain extensive literature by, on and about Albrecht Dürer, including historical treatises, some of which are difficult to access today, Dürer-specific periodicals and auction catalogues. The latter are often provided with informative handwritten notes. The Heidelberg copies are being successively digitized and made accessible.
Dürer sources online
Albrecht Dürer's extensive written legacy makes him one of the best documented artists of his time. In addition to numerous letters, preparatory works for his writings or autographs have been preserved. Some of the now internationally scattered sources by and about Dürer have already been digitized and are freely accessible online. The list of source material available online is being successively expanded and in parts edited.
Library of the Albrecht Dürer House Foundation e.V.
Since the Dürer memorial year 1971, the Albrecht Dürer House Foundation e.V. has been building up a library to document Dürer's life and afterlife. In over 50 years, about 9,000 volumes have been collected, including rare publications. For research you can use the corresponding research tool. The library holdings are maintained by the Art Collections of the Nuremberg Municipal Museums.
